Business travel expenditures expected to increase for 2014

According  to the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), in a recent article in USA Today, the trade group is projecting a steady increase in corporate trips to foreign destinations. The GBTA also predicts that foreign business travel will seek large hike of 12.5% in 2014.  At Mercury Health Travel’s executive checkup program, we are noticing a willingness to travel for executive checkups in conjunction with other business to be conducted in the same area.

GBTA cites an improving economy and a willingness to spend more to send their employees off site. They report that spending increased 3.8% in 2013 while the number of trips declined.  They also report that many companies are now asking employees to combine trips rather than spread out missions over multiple trips. This can reduce carbon footprints and lead to better productivity per trip. Add a health checkup to the mix and the result is a home run!
